Zinc-Silver Rechargeable Batteries

Portable computers have made lives enjoyable and working easy. Laptops facilitate the users with working while traveling, and watching a movie while waiting in a dentist’s clinic. A notebook is your best friend, but only until the battery is alive. Yes! The biggest hitch in laptop functionality is battery life. These rechargeable batteries run out of power right in the middle of an important presentation, or at the most crucial turn in a mystery movie.
Weight of laptops is increasingly growing, while there is little improvement in the ability of a battery to stay alive longer. There must be a solution to this problem. ZPower brings this solution to technology world.
ZPower is committed to bring innovating transformations in the area of battery technology. With its brilliant silver, zinc and water based chemical composition; ZPower presents a battery that delivers great performance and at the same time securely providing power and energy to portable devices like laptops and mobile phones. The company creates an earth friendly, recyclable item for consumption that minimizes ecological impact.
The company is set to produce rechargeable batteries for laptops that, according to ZPower’s claim, will present 20 – 40 % more lifetime per one time charging than do the lithium-ion batteries. They use the most modern and sophisticated polymers, nano technology, power electronics and dispensation techniques for crafting a rechargeable battery that is far better performer, much safer and more environment friendly than any other existing rechargeable battery.
Composition:
This battery is made up of zinc and silver. Details are as follows,
- A composite polymer electrode i.e. Zinc anode
- Silver cathode coated with nano particles
- Highly effective separating layer
Working:
Zinc silver batteries are notorious for dendrite growth. With the passage of time as the battery is recharged over and over again, chances of growth of zinc dendrites within the zinc anode increase. These dendrites have the ability to disfigure the anode and travel through it, ultimately perforating the separating layer present between zinc anode and silver cathode, resulting in short circuiting and cell death.
This problem has been resolved by ZPower. The amalgamated polymer electrode i.e. the zinc anode in these batteries reduces the chances dendrite growth and disfigurement of the anode by thereby. Also, the separating layer serves as dendrite growth resistant.
For better performance, nano particles silver cathodes boost the conductivity for lower internal resistance. The separating layer stands firm against degradation from silver cathode.
Advantages:
The silver zinc battery has many advantages attached to its use. It offers a longer run time than Li-ion batteries. The water based composition that contains no lithium or flammable solvents is non-combustible and non-toxic. Most of all, the environment friendly battery can be recycled and made into another fresh battery.
The first laptop with zinc-silver rechargeable battery is due in this year.

Fantastic good news for laptop users
I would like to know more about the discharge current capabilities and charging regimes for modelling use, I have a 4′ long model WW2 Torpedo boat that puts out about 1KW from three brushless motors and three 14.4V batteries (NiMH or LiPo), this necessitates a current draw of around 40 – 50 Amps from each battery, are your batteries capable of this sort of discharge? I am always looking for the biggest meanest batteries to promote!

Seriously…”Fantastic news for laptop users”
I truly admit this fact, that laptop users usually suffer with 2 problems weight and the battery life of their laptop. It has become an essential need of all professionals. So this ZPower batteries would definitely be a boon for them…
But i just want to know that, is it expensive then the batteries which we normally use, and can I replace it with my existing battery?…would it make any difference??
