The Nokia’s factory in Chennai, South India has been paused for some days because of the strike of its workers for the higher wages. This pause of work from the worker’s side can really prove to be dangerous for the company’s benefits as this factory is the chief hub for the manufacturers of mobile phones and employees almost 8,000 workers.
When asked about the impact of this strike on the company, the officials provided no response and negotiations got started between the union and company officials from Monday. The Nokia India Employees Progressive Union (NIEPU) has been working on the settlement of wages for quite a long time and according to Nokia that is going to get finalized soon.
Same kind of strike was seen in January this year, when the union went on strike for the reinstatement of 62 of their colleagues that were suspended for “serious acts of misconduct” and according to union officials “We expected all the suspended (employees) would be taken back. But they were not”.
So now the workers have again got together for their rights and if the company officials take no notice of this then it can prove to be dangerous for the company.
