There are many media players available these days, both charging money and for free. Out of a long list of these players, I have chosen the best media player which is an open source application and can be downloaded and enjoyed by anyone. This is the well-known and much liked VLC Media Player. Best thing about this media player is that it plays many formats of audio and video, and is cross-platform software. The VideoLAN Client Player is created on the idea of such a media player which can play audio as well as video content, along with the streamed media. This project is run by a non-profit organization of volunteers.

I have recommended VLC Player because of many reasons. All of us hate the idea of waiting for a media player to load. Indeed, this is a pain in the neck if we have to wait for minutes to let our media player load the video or audio. We want a media player which load our files quickly, plays streamed content nicely, is free and plays many different formats. Also, it should put minimum load on the RAM as well as processor. VLC does it all.

Exterior Look:

The player is as simple as it could be in its default from; do not expect a heart-stopper. With basic function buttons, it looks like any other media player. Looks are not impressive though, the performance is awesome. In fact, this ordinary looking media player is the real winner.
On the other hand, the VideoLan Project offers a whole lot of various skins which can be downloaded from the official skin page of the website and used according to the mood. Also, it allows the users to create their own skins.

Performance:

This media player does not require additional codecs to be downloaded by us. This is another wonderful feature of this media player that it comes with its own set of codecs. Usually, most of the media players annoy us big time by popping up an alert telling that we don’t have the required codec installed in our computer, therefore the docile media player is unable to play our requested track or file. This does not happen when you are working with VLC media player as it has the required codecs installed in it. Therefore it plays most of the audio and video formats.

It plays ripped DVDs without a problem, as well as streamed videos. Synchronization of video and audio files is another positive feature of this decent media player. Playing a movie directly from a DVD is also an easy task for VLC.

This player gives you an option to stream videos from web or network. Also, converting menu has been included there. It supports almost 40 languages; hence the interface language can be changed any moment.

Undoubtedly, there are many wonderfully designed media players out there, but no one is able to play so many formats of audio and video, stream from internet and network, play DVDs and convert media files as this media player does. Therefore, this is the best media playing application available till now.
