Philips revealed its new Cinema 21:9 TV line-up today and has reassured its promise to keep manufacturing high-end TVs all the way through the recession. In spite of the popularity of its low-end Series 5 LCD TVs, the Dutch electronics producer has gone ahead with the technological advancements that include the likes of LED backlit sets and Ambilight projection as the results of that innovative process.
Philips had gathered some data from the Risc Research and also presented the statistics which show the expectations of the consumers in the new TV and amazingly, the picture quality and sound quality emerged as winners in the survey where about 75% of the users commented that the picture quality is important and the 52% preferred the sound quality.
Philips claims that it is committed to innovation and it would continue invest heavily on the R & D department. The sources from the companies believe that the market in the present scenario requires immense innovation and they wouldn’t be able to survive once the innovative process stops. Philips is also working on the 21:9 format so that it could adapt appropriately to the Blu-Ray discs, however some discs are already having this option on their menus. There are also talks about the 3D TV; however the company doesn’t seem to be releasing the technology anytime soon.
