Acer Inc. is a multinational company based in Taiwan. It manufactures monitors, TVs, Projectors, Laptops, Netbooks, and Desktops etc. Acer’s notebooks and netbooks are very popular all around the world. Here in this article, I will discuss top 15 laptops manufactured by Acer Inc.

Basically, Acer manufactures two kinds of laptops; Aspire and TravelMate.

  • Acer Aspire series includes Aspire, Aspire Ethos and Aspire Timeline X.
  • Acer TravelMate series includes TravelMate and TravelMate Timeline X.

From all these 5 series, I have tried to choose the top laptops with best specs and nicest features. As you all know, best is going to cost way more than a casual and ordinary product. This is why, you will not see inexpensive and cost effective notebooks listed here. I might list the inexpensive laptops in yet another article. This article includes high end laptops with slightly higher price tags.

Let us begin with our list.

This series contains two laptops with awesomely wonderful specs and features. If you want to get a laptop which looks utterly beautiful and has real high end specs (and you care less about the price factor), Ethos is one machine you must get.

1. AS8943G-7748G50Bnss:

With Ethos 8943G, you get a full package; great multimedia centre, wonderful display screen, attractive design and built and impressive performance. First of all, you must understand that this is a huge laptop with an 18.4 inches display screen; therefore you will be unable to carry it around everywhere. It is more like a desktop replacement. The screen is Active Matrix TFT Color LCD with CineCrystal technology and 16:9 aspect ratio. With 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 8948G promises to offer crisp and vivid picture. A Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium runs the laptop, which is fitted with Intel Core i7 processing unit. RAM is 4GB whereas the HDD has the storage capacity of 500 GB. A BD-Reader is there to let you enjoy HD movies and games with high end graphics.

Design is utterly beautiful with a metallic lid and black plastic palm rest area. The keyboard has spacious isolated keys, protruding from a silver platform. Above the keyboard is a pair of stereo speakers, which work extremely well with a sub woofer built underneath the machine. Touchpad is a pleasure to look at, with piano black glossy finish. Clicking the circular button that rests between both mouse buttons transforms your touchpad into multimedia controlling touch panel. This is certainly a beautiful as well as useful feature of this high end laptop.

There are 5 USB ports, a 5-in-1 card reader, a VGA port, an eSATA and an HDMI port. You can also get hold of a TV tuner that comes with a portable compact antenna and full remote control. The cooling fan keeps on running; therefore it does not let the machine go hot. Acer has put a price tag of $599.99, but adding few extras (like a bigger HDD) will cost you more than that.

Aspire series consists of laptops equipped with all the necessary features for everyday use as well as designed beautifully. Following Aspire notebooks have been added to this list for their nice performance and high end specs.

2. AS7745G-7744G50Bnks:

Here is yet another heavy laptop which might work better sitting in place of your desktop instead of being carried around here and there. The 17.3 inches Active Matrix TFT LCD WSXGA display screen has 16:9 aspect ratio and 1600 x 900 pixels resolution. Just like any modern laptop, it also runs the Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium. The processing unit is a Quad-core, Intel Core i7 1.73 GHz and the RAM is 4GB. You get 500 GB Serial ATA HDD which offers plenty of storage space. For high definition movie watching experience, you get integrated BD-Reader.

As far as ports are concerned, there are 4 USB ports, an HDMI port, TV out, a 5-in-1 memory card reader and a VGA port. It has been priced at $1149.99.

3. AS5745G-6323:

Let us get out of these heavy-weight desktop replacements and talk about portability factor. This one is slim and has a smaller display screen than the above mentioned ones. Main specs are the same; Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, Quad Core Intel Core i7 1.6 GHz processing unit, 4GB RAM (expandable to 8 GB) and 500 GB HDD. Screen is CineCrystal 15.6 inches Active Matrix TFT LCD having 16:9 aspect ratio and 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. You are deprived of BD-Reader in 5745G, and a DVD Writer replaces it. NVidia GeForce GT 420M GPU offers great graphics, and it can be turned off in order to save juice. There are 4 USB ports, a VGA and an HDMI port. Touch pad has multi touch functionality, too. Acer offers this laptop for $999.99.

4. AS5742-7765:

This 15.6 inches display laptop has some very nice specs and features which bring it in this list. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium and has a dual core Intel Core i5 2.53 GHz processor. 4 GB RAM is standard and it can be upgraded to 8 GB. No BD reader is present; instead there is a DVD Writer. 320 GB HDD is quite enough for a casual user.

Again you get an HDMI, a VGA and 3 USB ports. Wi-Fi and Ethernet are also there. Price is the nicest factor here; it is sold for $679.99 only which is way cheaper than the expensive models I have written about in the above paragraphs.

5. AS1551-4755:

Here is an ultra portable laptop with weight as less as 3.10 lbs and screen as small as 11.6 inches. This means easy carrying around of your machine with no hassle. Dual core AMD Athlon II Neo 1.30 GHz runs the 1551 with 3 GB of RAM (maximum 4 GB) and Windows 7 Home Premium. You get 250 GB of hard drive storage and a 5-in-1 media card reader. You will like the screen if you are into small displays. It is a CineCrystal 11.6 inches WXGA Active Matrix TFT LCD with 16:9 aspect ratio. Acer offers this machine for $499.99 only.

6. AS5745DG-3855:

For $999.99, there is a great deal of super features and specs that you can have your hands on. A Dual core Intel Core i5 2.4 GHz processor runs the whole system with efficiency; with the help of 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium and 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM. NVidia GeForce GT 42M deliver wonderful graphics on the CineCrystal 15.6 inches Active Matrix TFT LCD display. Storage capacity is pretty nice with 500 GB HDD. A Super-Multi optical drive has been integrated into the system.

7. AS7745-7949:

Though a bit heavy, but this laptop has a nice big display (CineCrystal 17.3 inches Active Matrix TFT LCD) which makes browsing as well as video watching a life time experience. A BD reader makes the whole thing more attractive, as it enables you not only to watch High Def movies but also you can play games with most modern graphics. To offer seamless gaming, there is a Dual core Intel Core i3 2.4 GHz processing unit with 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM (maximum 8 GB). Other specs include 500 GB Serial ATA HDD, 4 USB ports, an HDMI port, a VGA port and 5-in-1 Card reader. All of this really nice pack of features is offered to you for $799.99.

As the name suggest, the Aspire TimelineX’s highlighting feature is the long battery backup time. Overall, the laptops in this series offer a battery life of 3-8 hours. Keeping in mind the portability features, Acer has combined the long battery hours with slimness of the machines. This way, you can easily take your Aspire TimelineX laptop with you on your trips, without bothering about battery and weight issues.

Let us have a look at the selected laptops from Acer Aspire TimelineX series.

8. AS1830T-68U118:

This machine is all about being portable and lightweight. Though it might be mistaken for a netbook due to the thinness as well as small screen size (11.6 inches); it is equipped with some of the most modern and high end specs and features. With 8 hours of battery backup time, this laptop promises you full support on long routes. There is a dual core Intel Core i7 1.46 GHz processor, Windows 7 Home Premium, 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM and 500 GB Serial ATA HDD.

The screen is CineCrystal 11.6 inches Active Matrix TFT LCD with 16:9 aspect ratio and 16.7 Million colour support. Unfortunately, there isn’t any optical drive, certainly due to the compact size. No special graphic feature is there, rather the integrated Intel HD Graphics have to do all the tasks. Therefore, do not expect high end gaming experience with this little one.

The worst part is its price; I certainly don’t like an 11.6 inches machine to be sold for $899.99. But the overall performance and high tech, somehow, explains the high price tag. You may go for other laptops of the same series with lower prices.

9. AS4820TG-5464G32Mnks:

I genuinely like the specs of this laptop as it is reasonably built; light in weight, slim and has perfectly adequate display size. The processing unit is a Dual core Intel Core i5 2.53 GHz with 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM (maximum 8 GB), 320 GB Serial ATA HDD and a DVD Writer for optical drive. CineCrystal 14 inches Active Matrix TFT LCD with 16.7 Million colours and 16:9 aspect ratio delivers real nice picture and video with the help of ATI Mobility Radeon HD Graphics. You get a TV out as well as an HDMI port. With battery backup time of 8 hours, this nice machine is being offered for $799.99 by Acer.

10. AS5820T-7683:

Here we have a laptop with Dual core Intel Core i3 2.4 GHz processor, 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM (maximum 8 GB), 320 GB HDD and a DVD writer. It has a CineCrystal 15.6 inches Active Matrix TFT LCD with 16:9 aspect ratio, TV out, an HDMI and 4 USB ports. Integrated Intel HD graphics try their best to deliver nice quality graphics, but it certainly cannot equate the dedicated GPUs present in most of the high end laptops these days.
You can get this laptop for $699.99.

This series focuses on business professionals who are constantly on the move and require feature packed portable machines. Also, these laptops are energy efficient as well as environment friendly.

11. TM6594-7323:

Though this laptop has a nice big screen (15.6 inches Active Matrix TFT LCD), the weight is pretty less. This certainly makes it easier to carry around on long trips. The 7 hours battery backup time is yet another plus point for the active travellers. It is run by Dual core Intel Core i5 2.66 GHz processor with 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM and Windows 7 Professional. You get a 500 GB Serial ATA hard drive which offers pretty decent space for storing your data. A DVD writer is also present for accessing external storage disks.
This package is available for $999 only.

12. TM5742-7908:

This computer is sold for $799 by Acer; though it has the same display screen size, Operating System and processor as does the above mentioned TravelMate. Where does the difference lie? Well; this machine has a 320 GB Serial ATA HDD instead of a 500 one, processor speed of 2.53 GHz instead of 2.66 GHz and no Finger Print reader. Also, the battery backup time has been cut down to 4 hours from the 7 hours 6594 boasts. Anyways, $200 is NOT a minor difference in price.

Again, this series is designed specifically for professionals who travel frequently and their tough routine does not let them leave their computing devices even while on the go. This is why these machines are slim, light in weight, protected against shocks, free of hazardous materials; more secure, and offer longer battery backup hours.

13. TM8572-6430:

Portability being the major feature; this laptop is light weight and offers 7 hours of battery time. It has a 15.6 inches TFT LCD, dual core Intel Core i7 2.66 GHz processor, Windows 7 Professional, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD and a DVD writer. Finger Print Reader protects the machine against unauthorized usage. There are 4 USB ports which will be pretty adequate for business purposes. This laptop is available for $1019.
14.     TM8572-6779:
Sold for $999.99, this machine has almost the same specs as the above mentioned laptop. This is why; we don’t see much difference in the prices of both computing devices.

15. TM8572-6752:

This is yet another notebook with 15.6 inches TFT LCD display. It is run by a dual core Intel Core i5 2.66 GHz processing unit with 4 GB RAM (maximum 8 GB) and Windows 7 Professional. You get a 320 GB HDD, a DVD writer, 5-in-1 card reader, TV out, 4 USB ports and 8 hour battery backup time. This laptop is sold for $919.

All these laptops are pretty well equipped with nicest specs and features, though prices matter all of us a bit. I hope you find this article useful.
