Tips to Transform your Vista into Windows 7

Whether one has tried Windows 7 beta version or not, everyone is waiting for the long awaited impatiently. Most of the users are now tired with Vista’s sluggish performance, and need an upgraded Windows version that can run faster and work quickly. Thus, Windows 7 has much anticipation related to it. Though you can no more access the beta version of Windows 7 anymore, there are some tips which you can follow to make your old Vista look fresher and mush like Windows 7. Check these tips out, and look for yourself what difference occurs to your Vista.
1. Wallpapers:
Though Vista has a wide range of beautiful wallpapers; Windows 7 possesses even better and larger collection. There are 18 new wallpapers in Windows 7, 6 of which are UK oriented. These wallpapers have been taken from Windows 7 beta version.
Download the official Windows 7 wallpapers, and give your Vista a Windows 7 look. Simply follow the download URLs all those fantastic wallpapers are yours. Open the C: drive, click “Windows”, then “Web” and then “Wallpapers.” Move the downloaded files to this folder. Right click on your desktop, select Personalize\Desktop Background. All your downloaded wallpapers will be there. Choose one according to your mood!
2. Renovate the Taskbar:
Got done with refurbishing you wallpaper? Now its time to get the taskbar
renovated. Windows 7 has a remarkably attractive taskbar with big and easy to read icons. You can make your Vista taskbar look exactly as beautiful as windows 7 taskbar is, by downloading the Windows 7 Style for Vista theme from http://giannisgx89.deviantart.com/art/Windows-7-Style-For-Vista-102269037. Open this file with Winrar, as it is a .RAR file. Now, go to http://www.tune-up.com/download/ and download TuneUp Utilities 2009 from there. Install this program. After opening it, click Customize Windows in the left hand menu, then Visual Style\Add (underneath the Visual Styles heading) and select Install visual style from file.
Now, open the Windows 7 Style for Vista and click the Theme folder. Open the Windows 7 folder, and to end with, open the Windows 7 style file. Once the process is complete; click Apply in the main window.
Here, you have an all new looking transparent taskbar with awesome effect. Enjoy the feel!
3. More Improvement:
Now, you need to have a Windows 7-style icons and Taskbar windows, as adding these will transform your Vista into Windows 7 (as far as looks are concerned, only). Go to http://snipurl.com/c4kgb and download Windows 7 Taskbar Iconizer. Double click the .exe file and click the Windows 7 Type ‘Iconized’ portion of the image in the next window that appears. Log out, and log in again. See the stunning change that has happened to your Vista taskbar.
Now, your opened programs and folders will appear as small icons along the taskbar. Clicking on a window with multiple opened documents will raise a menu from which you can select which document to open.
To attain large icons that run along left side of Windows 7 taskbar, go to http://snipurl.com/c6kek and download EnhanceMyVista. Open it and select Customization\Taskbar and check the Iconize your Taskbar box. Then, save the changes, close it and apply the alterations by restarting your PC. After restarting it, right click the Taskbar and click “Lock the Taskbar”. Right click the Taskbar again and choose View\Large Icons.
4. Start up/ Log on Screens:
To get a complete 7 experience, download the start up screen from http://killer7ben.deviantart.com/art/Windows-7-6956-Bootscreen-105756511. TuneUp Utilities 2009 will recognize and install it once you double click it. You can also do this manually, by opening TuneUp Utilities 2009, clicking Customize Windows\TuneUp Styler, choosing Boot Screen and selecting Add\Load Boot Screen from file.
Now it is time to change the log on screen. Download the program from http://snipurl.com/c6o5n and go to Windows 7 Login Screen by Pugalenthi folder and browse to LogonStudioVista. Install it by double clicking. Open the Stardock LogonStudio and click Load. Go back to the Windows 7 Login Screen by Pugalenthi folder, open the LogonVista File folder and double click the Windows 7 file. To get the full effect of Windows 7, Open the Windows 7 Style for Vista by giannisgx89 folder, go to the Take ownership folder, double click the InstallTakeOwnership file. Open the Windows 7 Login Screen by pugalenthi folder, browse to the Dll file folder, right click basebrd.dll and select Take ownership. Double click basedbrd.dll and click “Yes”.
5. AeroShake:
It is a cool way to minimize your open windows by only shaking your mouse. Download this application from http://snipurl.com/c75sk, and enjoy. Shake the mouse left to right and your window minimizes, shake it again and it maximizes. This is fun.
Remember that you will have to double click the application every time you restart your system.

Im a Vista user and am totally disappointed with its performance. No doubt that it has stronger firewall and all other features but I would prefer Windows XP anyday at present to Vista. Vista is too slow and heavy..needs alot of space. Eagerly waiting for Windows 7, which I’ve heard is much better in terms of efficiency and speed than Vista.
Great post, but I guess it would be better to migrate totally to Windows 7 if you are in Vista, I never liked Vista
