For the new users of Google’s Chrome browser, the search company has now provided more details of changes which have recently been made into build 156.1 of the code. Google Thursday declared that the Chrome browser is planned to remain in a “never-ending” beta test form.

Development details issued through the Chromium Developer page reveal that build 1.56.1 wprks with a new form of Webkit with lots of fixes. Webkit is the open source code to render web pages.

156.1 uses version 528.8 from the WebKit source tree. This version goes beyond the code that powers Safari 3.1, empowering new features such as CSS gradients, CSS canvas drawing, CSS reflections and CSS masks.

Other improvements to the code base include Form Autocomplete, which enables Google Chrome to remember what you’ve typed into fields on web pages. Something typed in the form again, will cause to match any previous values with what what is typed later.

The company also has enhanced Chrome’s zoom functionality. Pressing CTRL and + will not just increased the page text size, in 156.1, this command will scale every element on it.

An ‘auto scroll’ function has also been made possible through a mouse click. Google Chrome will also enable google bookmark imports. The new Chrome build also features new HTTP network code with own implementation (for greater stability) and experimental user script support similar to Firebox’s Grease monkey.

Build 156.1 has all of these code changes from the main source code since 154.0 was branched in October.
