You must be a person of decent taste if you have got a Blackberry Phone. In fact, a blackberry is not only a communicator, but it is the indicator of decorousness and politesse of the owner, as it is a delicacy itself. In this article, I shall inform you about some such applications for your Blackberry phone which are not only useful for IT personnel, but they are quite fun to use. The days when a mobile phone was used to make and attend calls have gone, now it is the era of advancements and enhancements. Let me tell you about these handy applications that you can try by yourself to check their usability. You can find all these with a lot more applications at The Blackberry App World; which you can download on your Blackberry phone.

1. Dexrex SMS Backup:

Do you want to face a situation where you deleted a highly important sms and there is no means to get it back? Then install Dexrex SMS Backup as soon as possible to avoid any such situation, as this application collects and stores every sms that you send from or receive at your Blackberry. If you accidentally delete a message that was really important, what you would have to do is to sign in to a password protected account at Dexrex’ website, and you will get an instant access to all your sent and received sms data. Get it installed before you commit such a slip-up. It is a free application.

2. StormLock:

Blackberry Storm has many plus points, but a negative one is that when you are listening to a call, suddenly the call is muted. The reason; it happened because your face was pressed too closely to the touchscreen of your phone. “StormLock” will ease you of this annoying feature of otherwise wonderful Storm. It temporarily locks the call screen while you are making a call or listening to one, and unlocks it automatically once the call is completed. This fine application will cost you $2.99.

3. Salesforce Mobile:

Are you a salesman? Okay! Then this application is going to help you a lot. This will allow you to manage your contacts, by sorting your sales contacts as accounts, opportunities and leads. Keeping track of their latest sales account activities is also allowed. It is free to download but one has to get the subscription of Salesforce.com to benefit from this application.

4. InterCall Mobile Assistant:

This application stores and makes record of frequently used conference call bridges and lets the users create up to 128 mobile conference profiles. User can dial any of the stored profiles with a simple click and also, it enters the pass code. You can download it free of cost, but cannot benefit from it unless you are a subscriber to Intercall’s Reservationless-Plus service.

5. Aerize Explorer:

You cannot send a large file over your Blackberry phone as it is difficult to do so. Actually, you can send a large file with the help of Aerize Explorer, as it helps zipping and unzipping large files saved on your Blackberry. This not only saves the space on your phone but also helps sending them to other devices. This will cost you $4.99.

6. Antair Spam Filter:

This filter is not dependent upon a corporate push email server. In fact, it is installed onto the Blackberry device directly, and then it takes care of the spam that the phone receives. It is a pricey application costing $49.99.

7. Voice to Email:

This application is simple enough to use, as it allows the user to record a voice mail for anyone, which can be sent through email to the selected contact. This application is basically useful for those people who are more into voice mails than the conventional emails. Its price is $2.99.

8. ToDoMatrix Professional:

It is a $19.99 application that lets you organize your tasks by creating different To-Do lists. Users are allowed to import the tasks from various Blackberry applications such as calendar. “Multi variable filtering” allows sorting out the tasks into 30 different categories.

9. Age of Empires III:

It will cost you $9.99 to transform your Blackberry into a civilization creator epic. It is a gift especially for those who have played and are fond of this classic civilization game. You must not expect outstanding graphics, as it isn’t your gaming PC, but a little smart Blackberry. Nonetheless, this will give you a fun time when you are getting bored in the interval between lectures.

10. Nintaii:

It is $6.99 puzzle game that gives your brain a workout by making you move a block around hurdles and obstacles in a path. This is quite an addictive game, and is one amongst the popular applications of The Blackberry App World.

Now when you have the introduction to all these applications in front of you, you can easily choose whatever suits your priorities and taste. Hope this article was helpful to you.

It is a difficult task when it comes to picking one of the three latest BlackBerry models. We have carefully assessed the three latest ‘berrys’ called the Bold, Storm and finally the Curve 8900. What would make these phones to be unique in their own styles and what actually attracts the consumers?

Design

To begin with, we started off with the Bold. The BlackBerry Bold stands out completely different in terms of design direction for the company. However, it is obvious that the Curve and the Storm present a completely new look to the RIM phones. At the same time as the Bold might still come across as a handsome phone, it is assessed to be slightly out of shape and chintzy as compared to the other two phones. The plastic metal bezel appears pretty cheap as compared to the Curve’s similarly styled implementation that bares quite some of the resemblance to the Storm.

Functionality

At the same time as we thought that they all possess the same functionality, the UI response time was faster and more accurate on the Bold as compared directly to the Curve. The trackball movement is actually less accurate on the screen with the same settings. The pixel density on the Blackberry Curve is far tighter as compared to the Bold and it borrows quite a few of the UI tweaks from the Storm. However, there is no improvement in the abysmal browser in Bold.

Appearance

If we happen to compare all the phones, you would notice a huge difference in the colour temperature, just like the one we saw within the iPhone as well as the iPhone 3G. The Storm as well as the Curve is believed to have the yellower shade as compared to the Bold. It is impossible to mention as to which phone would be better than the other, however the blacks seem extremely attractive and better defined than the other two phones.

Keyboard

The keyboard differences between the Curve and the Bold are also huge and interesting. The Bold resembles the 8800 design by the RIM and with quite a few spacing as well as the font changes. The Curve employs the split key design that is also used in the previous models and is extremely easy to use for the consumers.

However, to conclude with, you would be buying pretty similar objects. Especially, there is a very little difference between the Curve and the Bold; it largely depends on the carrier decision here. Even at the time of considering the Storm, the general user experience is the same, but is amazing to see how far the RIMs have moved from the Bold’s style in such a short span of time. Regardless of which phone you choose, you would still be enjoying the best-in-class email experience.

RIM BlackBerry Storm consists of an innovative touch screen, which offers tactile feedback for confirming your selection. This $200 ($199.99) worth smart phone provides dual-mode functionality with capability of world-roaming. Other highlights of this phone include a 3.2 megapixel camera and GPS.

Bulky Model

First thing that you’ll observe in Storm, prior to you even turning it on, is that it is slightly on the heavier side. RIM opted for including an extended battery with Storm, probably for appeasing both professionals and general users, who are looking to use media features or surf on the web, with their smart phones. The model weighs around 5.5 lbs and measures 4.4in x 2.4in x .55in in size.

Hardware buttons on the Storm

With Storm, you get a handful of hardware buttons, which include ‘dial call’, ‘end call’, ‘menu key’, ‘escape key’, ‘voice dial’ (left side), ‘camera’ (right side), ‘lock’, ‘mute’ and ‘volume control key’ (right side). You can miss out on the mute and lock buttons, as they are recessed into the phone’s casing.

Setup & Use

RIM BlackBerry Storm features a 3.2-megapixel camera along with GPS voice navigating facility. You’ll also get a 1GB on-board memory and a battery, which will deliver 6 hours of talk time. The display unit available with the model is a bright 3.25in 480 x 360 color display, which can support more than 65,000 colors. Again, it supports 2.0 Bluetooth and has a micro SD slot. You even get a typical 3.5 mm headphone jack with this phone. The only thing missing with the Storm is WiFi facility, which is a common wireless option on most smart phones.

What you might not like in the Storm?

It’s very difficult to use its touch screen even after practice. You’ll find it difficult to type fast on Storm. Even simple tasks such as typing in URL or dragging browser might prove a major chore. If you turn the phone to its side, Storm will be switched automatically to landscape mode with a full keyboard. Still, the keys will remain too small for email functions.

Neat tricks from Storm

You have the option to move your fingers over screen’s cursor for ‘picking it up’ and moving it to another region of the screen. This will be a fun way of searching email addresses for you. Again for zooming in, you only need to tap its screen two times and if you are looking to zoom out, just press Escape.

Storm is a great effort from RIM. Still, it’s not the killer smart phone that is needed to have an impact in this market. Yes, they have put tremendous thought into its design. Still, it has delivered way below the hype that was attached to it before its release.

Unique Selling Point

Battery: 6 hours of talk time and 360 hours of Stand by time

Camera: 3.2-Megapixel

Display: 3.25in 480 x 360 color display
