After making huge ripples in the market with its Galaxy series of phones, Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung seeks to further make inroads in the high-end phone market. The Korean electronics giant has unveiled Samsung Wave 578 at the Mobile World Congress 2011 which runs on Samsungs own smartphone platform Bada.

Samsung Wave 578 is equipped with several robust features. Among others it is equipped with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology which means that you can use the phone to make payments at shops, pay transport fares, read tags and get mobile coupons directly on the handset. The phone also boasts of robust connectivity thanks to the presence of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 2.0.
Commenting on the phone, Simon Stanford, MD, mobile, Samsung UK and Stanford said that the handset combines sleek design with high-end features which includes NFC and super Wi-Fi connectivity. The phone enhances the Bada OS platform of the company.
The phone is equipped with a 3.2″ WQVGA TFT LCD display and is pretty comfortable to hold thanks to its soft rounded edges. The display of the phone is equipped with proximity and accelerator sensors.
The phone facilitates typing thanks to the presence of QuickType by t9 trace which is almost three times faster than standard typing and with support for more than 75 languages, users get to experience easy and efficient typing experience.
The device is also equipped with multi-touch functionality which allows users to zoom in and out and pinch the screen during web browsing. The phone is quite light on the pocket weighing approximately 100 grams. Social communication in the phone is enhanced by the presence of Rich Communication suite (RCS) and with the integration of Social Networking service; one can easily connect with various social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
With push IM, users can access to messages from anywhere anytime they like. Presence of multiple applications is an important parameter in any high-end phone and knowing this fact well, Samsung has integrated Samsung Apps, an application via which users can download several apps as per their requirement. The phone is equipped with a 1200 mAh battery which offers a talktime of around 700 min (approx) when the phone is operated on 2G and around 400 hours when the phone is operated on 3G.The handset will be available in Europe from May 2011.
