Samsung products are known for the quality they provide with the aggressive prices. The latest are the flat panel television sets in the market for some of the best prices. The new Samsung LE46A786 is one such example. This model belongs to the company’s Series 7 collection of LCDs.

An Attractive Looking Piece

This happens to be the first TV by Samsung with a “Crystal Design” surround that isn’t covered with red. This model has a bluish shade haloing the front and a lot of users have seemed to like the colour better. Such a colour scheme is less distracting than the red and one can thoroughly enjoy the movie-watching experience.

Overwhelming black levels

To elaborate further, this particular LCD TV has the best blacks as far as the technology is concerned. The reviews are so impressive that it could be easily compared to a Gen 9 Pioneer Kuro Plasma. The most astonishing fact is that it offers a contrast ratio which is five times higher than the ratio. Isn’t it overwhelming enough?

It comes down mostly to the LED backlighting, where you would find the 640 different LCD bulbs that could be switched off and on whenever required. Most of the other LCD TVs today operate on the strip lightning. So with the Samsung, the light bulbs are switched on and off in accordance to the picture requirement. Therefore we can conclude that these 640 bulbs are responsible for the illumination of over 2 million mega pixels. The picture quality has a bit of the light bleed and thus the picture quality is not as great as the plasma, but then there is the contrast ratio to cover that up.

Contrast Ratio

Samsung claims 2 million: 1 whereas the real time ratio comes out to be 223864: 1 which is still amazing. There have never been such results from an LCD in a testing procedure. The plasma TVs cannot match the brightness that is being offered by the LCDs, however the OLED panel is pretty close. At the same time as the LED backlight bulbs switch completely off to attain the black skin, these bulbs shine much brighter than a gas-filled megapixel that provides extreme contrast levels.

The 46 inched TV is priced at £1,500; however it still presents a smart proposition. Its worth the money, considering the fact that you get an Ultra Clear Panel 100Hz with an amazing LED lightning.
