All those investors who recently purchased a lot of assets of the speciality car marker Saleen Inc has considered to buy the Dodge Viper business and hence it is not clear whether they were amongst the three bidders that Chrysler has acknowledged publicly. Mike Shields, who also owns some of the controlling interests in some of the Michigan auto companies, confirmed that they are looking forward to the purchase of the Viper. Their group includes the like of Cyltec, Control Tec, Power Tec engineering and Arrow Racing Engines. Making use of the name ‘MJ Acquisitions’, they bought the latest Saleen’s street performance vehicle. Chrysler has been looking out for the sale of this Viper’s sports car since last year.

The Viper operation is also expected to set up a factory in Detroit and the car would be powered by the 600-hp V10.Shields also added he would not comment whether his group is amongst the three bidders or not as it is a pretty sensitive issue here. He also added that his group is still assessing whether it would profitably go ahead with the Racecraft brand. There were also rumours that the 2010 Ford Mustang was supposed to be used by Saleen as the base for the activity models under the same brand. However, there are chances that if the economic conditions continue to go down, the company might change the plans later this year.
