There have been rumors about upcoming new iPhone model and fresh notebooks by Apple. These rumors just got nearer to reality after a report from Australian tech magazine “Smarthouse” recently. This report states that Apple might be planning for OLED displays for the next round of iPhone and net books.
LG is the Apple’s screens manufacturing name. An inner source has revealed to Smarthouse that Apple plans OLED screens for its upcoming notebooks, next model of iPhone, iPod Touch and flat panel monitors, as well as for the rumored net book which is already in its prototype stage. These all products are lined up for 2009 summer.
The Touchscreen OLED which LG has to manufacture (obviously for the iPhone and iPod Touch) features an extra coating so as to protect the screen from finger marks made by oily and greasy fingers. The OLED screen would also add to battery life. This fact further strengthens the credibility of this rumor as the new features and applications announced at Apple iPhone 3.0 event recently were mostly power hungry, thus needed a better battery life.
This had been rumored lately that iPhone was about to get new hardware, as the software changes were so huge that a new model with enhanced features was required. Especially after the upgrading to iPhone 3.0, this need had become more immense. Smarthouse’s report has further added to people’s anticipation, and every Apple fan out there is anxious to know what he/she is going to witness this summer.
