The top end of the amateur DSLP is all about getting into some new temptation for those who wan to have the luxury of a full framed body. Nikon D700, Canon 5D MK II or Sony Alpha A900 are some of the cameras in this range that you can choose from. But you will also have saved a lot of money in this way if you go for the Nikon D300S option. Approximately from each of these ranges, one saves about £500 from these.

The Nikon D300S is a great camera with 16-18 mm lens. It costs about £1,500 and comes way cheaper than any other full-framing Nikon, Sony or Canon. But you will get great services any way through this. For any non-professional this is going to be a good practice buy that is almost as well built as Nikon’s D700. The body is a build up of magnesium alloy. It is sustaining and stays perfect in its shell with exceptionally tough quality features. There are several rubber points over here that one can utilize at best. The attached lens works just as fine as well. Some of the best qualities of extra build quality is really very reassuring and takes care of most of your traveling needs. This model feels a lot like D300S in many was and bring you some of the best operative systems that you would ever experience from a camera of such stature.

The grip as well as the thick rubber flap is all about guarding the USB and HDMI points very preciously indeed. The memory slot is well covered with rubber seals and they bring good protection to the fragile innards. You could just as easily take it to a jungle or a safari and feel great about the overall experience. It is quite rugged and tough on the outsides and the shutter mechanism works very well indeed. That has been tested to 150,000 actuations.

There are about 100 shots that one can work with in the next 4 years, without any hassle. This is practically a great investment that you can utilize of. The pop-up flash is also a great feature coming with this model. This is quite an assuring model that you could really like to work with. The shutter button is all fine to feel and you could activate the focus any way you would like. It doesn’t of course click half way down the line like many other cameras. But you can really work with this camera without any problem at the half way stage.

The hint of détente is all about the control system being really in charge. The top end camera looks great just like its bigger brother, Nikon D700. The dial system also lets you understand utility of the button to great effect. You will also find yourself falling in love with the menu process. It is overall very easy to access this camera.

After two years of development the D300s is a disappointing camera; take the useless video away, you got practically a D300!
The change from the D200 to the D300 was enormous, in the same time. And comparing the D300s to Canon D7 leaves Nikon far behind. Nikon always seems to be too slow!
