Filling Hydrogen Fuel TanksThere is a big problem related to filling up fuel tanks of electric cars which run on hydrogen fuel cells. This problem is the long time which is taken to fill up those fuel tanks with hydrogen quickly and safely. Quick processing needs greater pressure, and absorbing the unpredictable hydrogen gas within a metal hydride power with greater pressure is though safe, but it produces huge amount of heat.

Scientists and researchers have come up to a solution by developing a new hydrogen storage system fro cars, in which the fuel tank is filled up with sufficient hydrogen to drive 300 miles, surprisingly, in 5 minutes.

Professor Issam Mudawar led the research, and according to him, filling up a fuel tank without cooling would take almost 40 minutes, and this is pretty long time. The researchers of his team have created a new heat exchanger which will circulate the coolant via pipes.

When the heat is generated, there are fins which will eliminate it. Basically, most of the heat exchanger has been made up of aluminum, and there is a web of emaciated fins inside it for the cooling process. In this way, hydrogen fuel tanks can be filled up quickly and safely, now. This is a great milestone in the progress of electric car development running on hydrogen fuel cells.
