Nokia has revealed its plans of entering the 3G dongle market by producing what’s famously known as the “internet sticks”. The mobile handset giant from Finland has clearly set an objective growth of 3G internet and wants to get into the market with a rapid growth strategy. It would be competing with the Huawei technologies that have been supplying dongles for the 3 mobile networks already.

Nokia would first introduce these sticks in the market by the year 2009. The Vice President for hardware components at Nokia informed Reuters that the expertise possessed by the company about the 3G components and its functionality would prove to be instrumental for their success. He also added that with these functionality, Nokia is already preparing itself to be one of the leading providers for the high speed modem solutions. The market for the high speed modems is steadily experiencing huge growth in the coming future.

Nokia refused to discuss the cost factor that would be attached to these dongles. But since it would be competing to the already established modem providers, the price is expected to stay close to the current prices being offered in the market. But the cost also depends largely in the deals with the operators and other services bundled together. It still remains to see whether Nokia would be able to make it as big as the cell phones market or not.
