None other than Nokia offers better technology solutions and this time Nokia has proved its power over the connectivity. Nokia has done justice with its slogan “Connecting People” and recently it has collaborated with Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) with the aim to expand the broadband connectivity in the rural areas of India.
While commenting on the Nokia’s move, Director of IIT-M said “Together with Nokia, IIT-Madras, through its Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology, will explore new avenues for getting affordable wireless broadband technology to rural India in an effort to bridge the digital divide. Our research will focus on leveraging the power of the Internet to accelerate the development of India’s rural communities, home to the vast majority of India’s population.”
The partnership of Nokia and IIT-M will produce several fruitful results. The aim of this collaboration is to improve the foundation of “Digital India”, this research project will be one of its kind that will solve the connectivity issues, especially in rural areas. Hopefully the result of this partnership will be in the form of some cost-effective and efficient fiber optic connectivity in rural areas.
Vice President of Nokia (India) Sandeep Girotra is very excited about this project, he said “India is on the cusp of a digital revolution. We are really excited about this research collaboration with IIT-Madras, which will leverage its talent and innovation to drive the Indian government’s vision of empowering rural communities through broadband connectivity – an initiative that will revolutionize access to government services and the Internet. The successful implementation of this project is a key social development objective for Nokia in India.”
