Nintendo, the giant game maker, is not afraid of the economic downturn and is further experimenting with inventive gaming possibilities. Satoru Iwata the president of Nintendo says the DS market is not saturated, and Nintendo sales of the [DS] could rise further in foreign countries of the European Union, the United States, and emerging markets like Russia and India.”
The company is now planning to make gaming even easier this year for the growing hoards of casual Wii gamers through a new patent.
Nintendo has presented an application in the US for patenting a cartoon-character assisted system supposed to assist gamers deal with specifically difficult sections of the upcoming Zelda or Mario game.
Nintendo fans are showing mixed reactions at the idea of a tiny cartoon character popping up in the middle of their gaming act to spoil the purity of the experience. Some gamers also consider it a good idea.
Shigeru Miyamoto, director and general manager of Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Design, is the inventor of the inventive cartoon hint system, which is either to be installed on a game disc or rendered online.
The patent application takes the plea that the game control for decreasing the difficulty by presenting a hint to allowing the game to continue is necessary for some games at least where the story is too large or the puzzles are too difficult, and a lot of time is wasted in clearing the game.
