The Nation’s Premier Motorcycle Show on Friday featured low cost, according to a report from New York. Manufacturers are trying to get as much customers as possible by offering low prices. Due to the world over economical recession, there has been a great decline in the sale and purchase matters. Buyers are not willing to invest money on the purchase of a costly item and lose cash. The companies are trying to counter this problem.
Reports from the motor cycle industry tell that the motor cycle industry faced a loss of 2.2 percent. This decline was evident mainly in the 3rd quarter of 2008. Robert Pandya, the show spokesman said, “We’re definitely seeing where manufacturers are taking advantage of the smaller motorcycles in their lineup, the motorcycles that don’t get the kind of attention when things are sort of economically strong”. He further added, “We’re seeing motorcycles coming in that were originally designed for other markets that, because of people’s consciousness for fuel economy and ease of getting around, are all of a sudden finding a home in the U.S.”
A chopper has been introduced by Honda, named Fury. It is made with a low leveled seat. With a single shock suspension for the back portion, modeled with a hard tail look. The engine specifies V-twin 1,312 cc. It is the longest bike in Honda’s productions with a wheel base of 71 inches.
Honda plans to sail the Fury around $13,000, which is quite low in these kinds of bikes. Bill Savino says, “No one has ever made anything this affordable for that segment of the market.” Two electric models were introduced by Vectrix Corp., famous for its scooters. It was told by them that their target customers are youngsters. Basically, they are looking for customers living in urban environments.
The VX-2 has a travelling capacity of 40-50 miles with the maximum speed of 30mph. It will be wearing a price tag higher than $5000. VX-1E having the capacity to run at 62mph will cost around $3,500.
The most important thing to note in a motor bike business, from a sale point, as exclaimed by Robin Diedrich, senior consumer analyst for Edward Jones, is “If you already are a motorcycle enthusiast or rider, you can probably make the current one you have last longer. You don’t need to get that new model.”
In the economical conditions like nowadays, the manufacturers will have to be more careful and precise while producing and pricing new models.
