As you might have seen that nearly a month ago Engineers from Google’s side had showed some flaws in Microsoft XP and the criminal minded people have received well benefits from those flaws. This Wednesday Microsoft reported that it has seen almost 10,000 attacks that have been logged to the Windows XP platform.
In a blog post the company reported that “At first, we only saw legitimate researchers testing innocuous proof-of-concepts. Then, early on June 15th, the first real public exploits emerged,” “Those initial exploits were targeted and fairly limited. In the past week, however, attacks have picked up”.
The reports of such attacks were also seen from the Symantec’s side and according to them the rate of these attacks peaked up in the last week. While declaring some more about these attacks, Microsoft said that criminals are using attack codes for the purpose of using different malicious programs and these includes viruses, Trojans and some other software.
The flaw which is expected to be the major cause of these attacks was found in the help and support software of Microsoft Windows XP and now Google engineers were the first to point out this weakness.
In order to keep you protected from the criminals due to these flaws Microsoft released security advisory on June 10 and that lets users to turn off Windows Help Center Protocol.
