As climate of the world is changing drastically, everyone is trying to adopt green products as well as green ways to lead life. Being dwellers of this earth, all of us need to pay attention towards the need to change our styles of spending lives and move to the greener lifestyle. Reduction of our carbon footprints, saving energy and living in a healthy atmosphere are all linked together. Let us find out and discuss means to achieve a greener earth and atmosphere.

    Keeping the degrees of your thermostat lower in winter and higher in summer saves the cooling and heating costs; a nice saving tip.

  2. Avoid drying the clothes in spinner of washing machine. Washing and drying machines consume huge power, thus prove hazardous to environment.
  3. Use compact fluorescent light bulbs instead of the usual ones, which will reduce energy consumption as well as your electricity bill.
  4. Avoid leaving electric appliances on standby mode, instead switch them off.
  5. Do you want to lessen the risk of obesity and heart diseases? Do you also want to reduce your fuel expenses? Then start walking to the office, or use a bicycle for this purpose. This practice won’t only make you less prone to such dangerous ailments but will save your gas costs.
  6. Make processions for better and constructive purposes, like for compelling the local government to build better passageways, footways and bike lanes. This will benefit not only you but your generations. This will also manage and reduce the traffic load on roads.
  7. Water is a blessing. There are areas in this world where there is no rain for months, and people have contaminated and impure water to drink. In some areas, people don’t have even that unclean water. It is our duty to save water. Therefore, we should shorten our shower spans, no matter how hot the weather is.

  9. Putting a faucet aerator on each faucet is going to keep the water pressure high along with conserving heat and water. Do not worry; they will not cost you a fortune.
  10. Most of the plants require water to grow. But there are some kinds which do not require much water; rather they grow easily without the need of being watered much. It is better to plant such plants in your home, so that they don’t require much water and grow without it. This way, you can have greenery in your home without wasting water.
  11. Eating meat is healthy, provided that you keep balance in vegetable and meat intake. Excess of anything harms one, and excessive meat intake causes cardiovascular ailments. This is why one should not rely solely upon meat diet; veggies are much healthier form of food.
  12. Do you buy meat from big suppliers? If yes, then you need to have a look at documentaries like Food Inc. this will compel you to purchase meat from your local suppliers. They don’t only have healthier and fresh meat, but also they put less burden on your pocket than those monopolists do. Eat fresh and save money as well as health.
  13. The above mentioned point should be applied on dairy products and eggs, too.
  14. Why not take a little pain while at home instead of going for the easy ways? Begin avoiding the bottled water, as the plastic is not reliable, it is expensive and it produces huge amount of container waste.
  15. Keep re-usable aluminium bottles instead of plastic ones while at work and on the go.
  16. Are you a book-oholic? If yes, even then you don’t need to buy them. Same is the case with CDs and DVDs. Try borrowing these things from libraries and friends for saving your money as well as saving the cost price of ink and paper that is used in publication process.
  17. Develop good terms with your neighbours and start sharing power tools with each other.
  18. Buying from whole sale stores in bulks will not only save you many bucks, but will also save the packaging costs.
  19. Avoid dry-cleaning by using different dress material, as it will lessen the toxic chemicals usage.
  20. Buying high quality products instead of low quality cheaper items will pay you in long run.
  21. Use your cell phones and computer systems etc. for as long as they can work; donate them for recycling afterwards.
  22. Compelling the local government for developing recycling units is another important task for all the residents of an area.
  23. Avoid buying detergents and soaps from stores. Instead, try making them at home. This will not only save your money, but will also improve your indoor air quality.
