With its large, welcoming touchscreen, the LG KP500 aka the Cookie is a nice choice for those who are looking for a touchscreen phone at a reasonable price.  Aside from a nice and full of fun touchscreen, it features a 3.2mp camera, an FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, an impressive media player and a memory card slot. Though it lacks a high class camera and 3G connectivity, it has all those features that people want to have in their handsets.

The Cookie is a reasonably priced touchscreen phone, but why it is so and what are the things that are missing in it if compared to other expensive touchscreen handsets. Let’s find out.

First let’s talk what it has. The cookie is a real touchscreen driven phone unlike other that only have touch sensitive buttons. You can use stylus (supplied with the package) or your finger to control the device. There are icons and virtual buttons that you need to press to make the touchscreen work. During 2008, touchscreen has emerged as the latest and hottest trend in cell phone arena and Apple’s iPhone is considered a torchbearer in this connection. It really gives a great quantity of fun when press virtual buttons available on the screen. In the beginning, touchscreen phones were somewhat difficult to use, but now they have become quite user-friendly and you can expect the same from the KP500. Besides a nice touchscreen, it also has a first-rate virtual QWERTY keypad.

When it comes to design, it is one of the most compact touchscreen phones available nowadays. It is significantly smaller than Apple’s iPhone and a lot thinner than the LG Renior.  With its 89g weight, it is perhaps the lightest touchphone ever. Though it is smaller in size, the screen looks quite spacious and it is of 3-inh without any reduction.

Screen is good and the other ergonomics are also good, then what else should be good? Media player? Connectivity?  Well, the media player of the Cookie can run almost all the well-known music formats. The web browser and stereo FM radio are also good. It also has an installed document viewer also offers email support. For connectivity, there are Bluetooth and USB.

When it comes to deficiencies, the first relates to its camera that is just of 3.2mp, while in other good LG phones are of or 5mp or 8mp cameras. Autofocus is also not available and it is quite reasonable if you look at the price. The second deficiency relates to memory that is of just 48MB, but it can be expanded up to 8GB with microSD memory card. The Cookie is not a 3G phone and Wi-Fi is also not available so web browsing wouldn’t be a good option and without it, the big screen is of no use.

Product Unique Selling Points

  • 3.2mp camera
  • A nice touchphone for those on budget
  • A compact device even 20% smaller than iPhone 3G
  • Large touchscreen display that’s fun to use.
