Yes that’s right, you’ve heard it right! BT – the telecommunication giant is looking forward to enter the mobile phone market as per the latest reports. According to the sources by Guardian, they have confirmed that informal talks are going on between 3, BT and T-Mobile in order to create a joint venture together. Another option for the already existing Hutchinson Whampoa, the current owner of 3, would be to sell the network. Such a venture may perhaps prove to be beneficial to the network as it has been struggling for years together to make a profit after its launch.

BT is under tremendous pressure from its shareholders in order to become the part of the mobile revolution as it is having an increasing number of users who are moving from the fixed land line to mobile phone options. A lot of users are also looking forward to the dongle to use on the move instead of the broadband.

BT already sold Cellnet, one of its major ventures in 2001 after incurring a heavy debt, however it may perhaps be ruining that decision since it struggled ever since to find a purchase in the market. We will only have to wait and see what kind of a deal would emerge from such talks, however BT needs to get it right really soon before it falls quite behind the mobile revolution.
