iPhone OS 4.0: Significant Features

The iPhone OS 4.0 has finally been released by Apple. Along with many other features, the highlighting feature is multitasking. In this article, I will discuss the latest features offered by iPhone operating system 4.0.

1. Multitasking:

After a long waiting span, Apple has unleashed its multitasking feature for the iPhone (as well as iPad) in the OS 4.0. The iPhone users can at last switch to another running app by double tapping the home button. VoIP services like Skype can stay running now, even when you aren’t using them. Also, location based services are also included in this multitasking function.

2. Gaming:

Gaming for iPhone was already a nice feature, and it has become even nicer with the OS 4.0. Now, the Game Centre has been launched to back it up. With this new feature, iPhone users will be able to play with their friends as well as with complete strangers! With the option called MatchMaking you can get a partner for game if no friend is available. You will also get the functions of Achievements and Leader boards.

3. Folders:

Now here is a feature that allows you to organize and manage various kinds of your apps on your iPhone. This option allows you to store up to 2000 apps in your iPhone. Also, you can manage your apps in different categories like games, utilities etc. to find them easily when needed. Obviously, finding an app in a bunch of 150 apps is next to impossible.

4. Integrated Inbox:

The OS 4.0 has provided the iPhone users with another long-awaited feature i.e. a unified inbox. This will enable the users to check all their emails in one inbox, that too in a threaded form so that they won’t have to go in and out of the mails. Though Apple made this feature available after a long time of wait, but it was worth waiting for.

5. iBookstore:

This is a feature focussed on book-worms. The iBookstore will enable you to but a book from the online store, and you will be able to read it on all your Apple devices like iPad, iPhone etc. This synchronization feature is certainly going to attract many book-lovers. This harmonization will not want you to leave your place and connect the devices; rather it will be completely cloud-based. Therefore, you can continue your reading on your iPad from where you left it on your iPhone. Isn’t this great?

6. Bluetooth Keyboards:

At last, we are not bound to work with this virtual keyboard of iPhone. The OS 4.0 is offering an option for Bluetooth keyboards to be connected with your iPhone so that typing a mail or a document becomes much easier.

7. Camera:

Now, you will be able to zoom in much easier way while shooting a video by only tapping on your screen at the desired area. Also, this new OS provides you with 5x digital zoom. Therefore, the camera functions seem to have developed in a good manner.

With above mentioned new features of OS 4.0, we see a whole newer and better iPhone experience than ever before.
