Apple’s success lies in its most innovative mobile operating system is. It was first launched in 2007 for iPhone and iPod users. And now, it is also used in other Apple products also like Apple TV and iPad. Google’s Android is its toughest competitor but this platform is the most popular among million of iPhone users because of its most advanced technology. Uptill many versions of this revolutionary OS have been launched. The most recent being the iOS 5 and iOS 6.

iOS 5 came in October 2011 along with the iPhone 4s and iCloud

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing , Philip Schiller said at the iOS5 launch,“iPhone 4S plus iOS 5 plus iCloud is a breakthrough combination that makes the iPhone 4S the best iPhone ever. While our competitors try to imitate iPhone with a checklist of features, only iPhone can deliver these breakthrough innovations that work seamlessly together.”

While iOS 6 was released in June 2012

Apple’s senior vice president of iOS Software, Scott Forstall said at its release, “iOS 6 continues the rapid pace of innovation that is helping Apple reinvent the phone and create the iPad category, delivering the best mobile experience available on any device,” said Scott Forstall, Apple’s senior vice president of iOS Software. “We can’t wait for hundreds of millions of iOS users to experience the incredible new features in iOS 6 including the new Maps app, expanded Siri support, deep Facebook integration, Shared Photo Streams and the innovative new Passbook app.”

Both the versions of this world’s most advanced OS have got more than 200 features. The iOS 5 features the  iMessage that lets you easily send text messages, photos and videos. Notification Center, let you easily view and manage notifications in one place without any interruption and iCloud let you wirelessly store your content from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC. Siri, the intelligent assistant being the common among both iOS versions helps you to get things done just by asking. iOS 5 had the built in Twitter integration while the new version has the built-in Facebook integration. Other new features added are enhancements to Safari Browser, support for FaceTime calls over mobile phone networks, an easy set up of a VIP Mailbox and an  inclusion of popular Chinese services including Baidu, Sina Weibo, Youku and Tudou for Chinese users. iOS 5 is already available while iOS 6 will be available as a free software update this fall.

Although, both versions have got some of the best features but its up to you which iOS version you like the best and which one you like to use in your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
