Apple declared that it will unveil iCloud on October 12. It will be available as a free download to iPhone, iPad or iPod touch that runs on iOS 5 or a Mac running on OS X Lion.
iCloud will include a 5GB of free cloud storage and it will be an innovative set of free services including iTunes in the Cloud, Photo Stream and Documents. These services will work with all your devices such as iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC and will store all your data in the iCloud which can be later accessed wirelessly through your devices.
iCloud will have the capability to store all your documents, photos, images, apps, contacts, calendars and music. You will have access to updated content via iCloud anytime as the change in content in any device will update the data in all the devices.
Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue, said, “iCloud is the easiest way to manage your content, because iCloud does it all for you and goes far beyond anything available today. You don’t have to think about syncing your devices, because it happens automatically, and it is free.”
Now you will enjoy music and you favorite tunes from iTunes in the Cloud. You will be able to download new music purchases to all your devices without any syncing. Also, history of all you music purchases will be saved in the iColud that will let you download and play the music on any device regardless on which device you bought the song. iTunes Match feature will match the songs with more than 20 million songs available on the iTunes Store and you will listen them in high-quality, DRM-free 256 kbps AAC encoding. The unmatched music will be uploaded to iCloud for later access via your devices.
Photography and Photo sharing will be much easier with PhotoStream service of iCloud. With this service you will be able to capture a photo on one device and view it on other. For example, you will take a photo on iPhone and view it on iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC. The photos sent to one device will be pushed to other device via iCloud. You will also be able to stream photos to Apple TV. Also photos will be shifted to digital camera through Wi-Fi or internet. This PhotoStream service of iCloud will let you store over 1000 photos without any worry of storage. App Store and iBookstore purchase history will be also saved in iCloud for future use so that you can enjoy your favorite apps and read the desirable books on any device.
iCloud’s Documents in the Cloud will let you write a document in one device and edit and update the document in other iOS device. The document created in one device will be uploaded in the iCloud which can be later accessed through other device. Some of Apple’s apps including iWork apps for iOS, Pages, Numbers and Keynote will work with iCloud storage.
Now you don’t have to worry that your data will be lost as iCloud Backup will automatically save all your data efficiently to the cloud once you are connected with the Wi-Fi. icloud.com will give you feasible access to your mail, messages, contacts, Find My iPhone and iWork documents.
Find My iPhone app is a cool app that will let you find your device if it is lost.
