How to protect your car during long-term storage

It is very much important that you keep your vehicle in a proper place if you are not going to use it let say for a month or more. This is highly essential in order to prevent your car from damages and repairs when you return.

Here are few important points that you should remember before storing your car for a longer period of time:

• Before storing your car, you must wash and wax it completely. This will protect the finish of your car.
• You car’s tank should be completely filled. This will help to prevent any collection of condensation in the gas tank. Also mix a fuel stabilizer together with gas and then start the car and drive around a little distance, so that the additives will be well distributed in to all parts of the engine.

• Keep a barrier for vapor on the floor of your garage.

• Detach the parking brake. It will help to avoid any corrosion of the brake.

• If possible, put your car on the jack stands. The jack will then take the weight of the tires and wheels of your car.

• Cut off and then remove the battery in order to keep it away from draining. It is advisable to place the car’s battery on a trickle type charger. Otherwise you must drain the battery regularly by a small light bulb, and also recharge by using a very low-volt charger.

• Connect the tailpipe by using any dust cloth. It will prohibit any moist air from entering into it.
