Laptop Battery Extend

The laptop seems to be a very exciting technological product that not only enhances your experience of using latest technology but also gives you the charm and ease to carry it anywhere with you. But the charm of laptop very soon ends when you come across the short battery life of Laptop. The technology experts say that Laptop batteries are just like that of people that eventually and inevitably die. Though the Laptop’s battery eventually dies but proper care and some standard steps will be helpful for getting a longer life of your battery. In this article some of the steps have been discussed which will be helpful for you in achieving the longer life of your laptop’s battery.

1. Let it have some Rest

The longer working time period of battery reduces its lifetime so you battery should be given some rest as well. If you are going to work exclusively on the AC power then don’t forget to remove the battery.

Another procedure to let the battery rest is that, don’t remove the battery while the laptop is on and even it is in the stand by or sleep mode. The removal of battery for some time is quite necessary and if you don’t know the procedure then consult the documentation of Laptop provided by the developers.

An unused battery loses power over time and if you don’t want all the power to drain away, so it is necessary to remove it while it is at least half charged.

If you want the efficient transfer of power from the battery then try to keep the battery contacts clean. To achieve this purpose clean the battery’s metal contacts with a cloth that is moistened with rubbing alcohol.

2. Screen Actions

The bright LCD screen of your laptop though looks very beautiful but this beauty also takes quite much power from the laptop’s battery. So regarding the screen of your Laptop you should have to follow some set of rules which include, turn down the brightness of the LCD screen if you don’t have much work regarding the colors of any content. The screen should be dim at such a level that can be easily readable.

Set the screen saver of your laptop for 1 to 2 minutes because it also consumes quite some power from the battery.

Don’t watch DVD or play the videos or games that are using intense graphics. It has been reported that the graphic cards consumes as much power as the hard disk takes so shut off the fancy graphic drivers if not as such required.

3. Do Hibernate Instead Of Standby

It is a very strong conception that placing a laptop in the standby mode saves energy and you can easily resume it when you come back, but this standby mode doesn’t saves that much energy as is saved by the hibernate function. This function will actually save the PC’s state as it is and then it completely shuts itself down.

It is too much required that you should have a knowledge when you have to save the power by sending the laptop into standby mode or the hibernate mode. The standby mode for different operating systems is different and you should have to know the details regarding the OS which you know.

4. The Memory Actions

The hard drive of your Laptop uses a lot of electricity and more RAM means less hard drive access, it doesn’t means that the RAM doesn’t uses electricity. The RAM uses electricity unless you are doing a lot of multi tasking. If you have extra RAM expansion slots then add more RAM as it will reduce the usage of hard drive.

For a better battery life, try to avoid multitasking. Reduce the usage of programs and open as much few programs as you can and if possible then try to stick to one application at a time.

Try to avoid the storage of multimedia content on your laptop and even don’t use such files as well. If you want to listen to the music while working then use the iPad or other such device.

Turn off the auto save features in the Microsoft Office and other such applications that uses this feature.

5. Healing a sick Battery

If you are facing problems regarding your battery life and if it is running out unexpectedly fast or it has problem in figuring out how much power is left then you have to fix the battery’s ‘gas gauge’ and then it’ll give you the more accurate readings.

If the battery is having problem in telling you that if it is charged or not then drain all of its power, recharge it to 100 percent and then repeat the procedure.

These were some of the procedures that will help you in getting a good lifetime for your battery, though the battery’s lifetime ends up after some standard amount of time even then you can increase the lifetime from your actions that you are performing with your laptop and it will be helpful for the battery’s life.
