High Definition Television
Congratulations! Your wish is fulfilled at last. Here you are with your brand new High Definition Television; your dream screen. Buying the HDTV has been quite a tough task as you had to keep in mind the merits and demerits of all available HDTVs, their prices and your budget. Let me tell you that your fatigue is not over; another step is yet to be done which is installing your new HD television. Most important things to watch out for include selection of the perfect spot to settle the TV there, keeping a distance with your big screen so that you don’t have to visit an ophthalmologist. Let us find out the ways we should adopt while installing the high definition giants.
Keep Fair Distance:
Keeping in mind your room size is necessary while buying an HDTV. Now, you need to place it at such a spot where following things can be taken care of:
1. That you feel comfortable while watching the TV and don’t have to turn the neck at wrong angles. Placing it at upper part of the wall is a bad idea while setting it too low is equally wrong. Find a spot somewhere in the middle of the wall where it is easy for you to watch.
2. That you enjoy the big screen at its fullest. This means that you should place it at such a point which is not far enough where even the “too much pixels” can’t give you a nice view. Being cautious is good, but too much care will spoil your experience.
3. That you keep it not too close to your eyes. There are two authentic views about the matter given by Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers, and THX. The former recommends a viewing angle of 30 degrees while the latter suggests that to be not more than 36 degrees.
You will notice that the closer you get to your screen while watching 480i/480p or 720p, the experience worsens. Therefore it is better to sit farther while these sources are showing on your screen. Also, sitting closer when watching 1080i/p will render you better service.
Mount or Podium:
It is a matter of your own preference whether you want your giant screen to be mounted on the wall or wish it to rest on a pedestal. Mounting is absolutely perfect unless you don’t own the house or are too much touchy about your walls. Carefully notice the level of extension, tilting and turning. It is also important to watch out for the strength of mount. It should be capable of carrying your TV excellently. Buying a stand for your TV should be done in accordance with style, design, cable management, strength and steadiness.
Stabilizers and UPS:
Buying a stabilizer will help fight against grave damage to your TV due to sudden and surprising voltage fluctuations. Even better is to buy a UPS which will provide your big screen an uninterrupted voltage supply even in the times of fluctuation.
Finally, you have to maintain the cleanliness of your TV as one of the prime enemies of electronic goods is dust. Cleaning fluids that contain ammonia and alcohol will destroy your screen’s plastic finish and brushing the screen will scratch it. Therefore, use nothing but a bit wet cloth to dirt free your big display. Now, it is time to enjoy your latest e-good.
