It was in 2006 when GrandCentral phone management service was first introduced and in 2007, Google acquired that service in more than $50million. Now there are rumors that the service has got ready for a public release under the name of Google Voice.
Just like many other Google acquisitions, this 21 month delay between re-launch and acquisition of the service was quite expected, as the internet giant is quite habitual to rebuild things from the ground up.
Now Google has added some nice new features in it to make it an absolutely compelling service. “One phone number for all your phones, for life,” is the basic idea behind the development of this new service that allows you to access all you phone numbers just with one phone number. Whether it’s your cell phone number, home or office numbers, this new service numbers offer you to stay the same while these numbers keep changing in your life.
Majority of people couldn’t use the service before, as new accounts were frozen by Google as it acquired the service. This freeze has not been lifted yet, but from Thursday, the existing accounts will have the option to switch to this service and have access of it’s newly added features. More and more people will be allowed to make the most of this new service in the coming some weeks. There are some impatient sort of customers that are willing to pay for $650 for an account.
