Google Chrome OS
That is really the question everyone is asking. With Google sending out invitations about its upcoming Chrome Event on December 7, the adrenaline rush among netbook lovers have suddenly increased. Speculations regarding the OS have been there for long, and with Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google saying that there is still some time before the OS will finally see the light of the day, the shoulders of Chrome geeks suddenly dropped.
But their hopes were rekindled with reports that the Chrome based OS netbooks in beta version might be launched in Chrome OS event on December 7. Even if the notebooks will be distributed among closest friends of Google, yet if launched, it will not be far until regular users get a feel of it.
With exquisite features such as constant update, boot up time of less than 3 seconds, Chrome OS is all set to redefine web-browsing experience among users. Though the OS may find it difficult to compete with traditional OS like the Windows, still it has the potential to replace maximum notebooks using Windows OS.
The Chrome OS netbooks will be equipped with Intel Atom processor without much of storage capacity (8GB approx). Rumors are also there that the event might also see the launch of Chrome Web store hosting Chrome OS applications. Whatever it may be, one thing is for sure that the event will be closely monitored by millions of internet users and who knows, Google may give its lovers early Christmas gift by launching the OS.
