When it comes to Dell’s supposed smartphone, you may find the rumor mill at its best. Every now and then, there is something new and the speculations are taking new shapes with every passing moment. This time it was a report in the Wall Street Journal that revealed that a group of engineers is working at Dell for the development of this phone, and they are not new to this project and have been doing so for more than a year.
Wall Street Journal sources, who are quite close to these plans, say that the group has developed some prototypes that will run with Microsoft Windows Mobile and Google’s Android operating system. One of these prototypes has touchscreen, but it’s without any physical keyboard, while the other model has a slider-style with a keypad that slides out from the screen.
Dell is still quite tight-lipped on this issue, and according to the company’s spokesperson, no such plan has been disclosed by the company yet.
On the other hand, the WSJ report says that Dell’s smartphone developers have spent enough time with different suppliers of cell phone components, software companies and other mobile makers.
A considerable decrease has been noticed in PC shipments during the past few years and it’s quite logical why PC makers are eyeing towards smartphones. At the same time, all smartphones are not doing quite well, but still this sector is quite healthy overall.
