Audi A5 Sportback
Everyone has been thinking than the coupé are “This is it” but hang on a minute there is some new here and that is the brand new Audi A5 Sportback. It is a five door hatchback and a coupé with rear doors. It is slightly longer in length than the coupé but still amazingly affordable. Audi A5 Sportback offers comfortable seating for four persons with frameless side windows. The wheel base of the A5 Sportback is mostly similar to the A4 as both A4 and A5 are based on same plan, but A5 is lower and sleek than the A4.
What is it from Outside?
Audi A5 Sportback is available in strawberry red, light blue and silver. It has a swooping shoulder line with curved roof and pert back which actually suits with it rather the coupé. It is almost same in size as that of the A4, it is 4711mm actually 8mm longer than the A4 and the wheel base is 2mm longer, approximately 2810mm. its is wider at the front, as it has a front track of 1590mm with 26mm more than its predecessor.
What is it from inside?
From the front A5 is similar to the coupé which means that it offers unquestionable quality and a slightly conservative but pleasing dashboard. It has the same MMI menu based system to control everything, yet it also has the optional satellite navigation. The rear of the Audi A5 Sportback is very comfortable as there are rear doors added into it, and thanks to them getting into back is rather easy now. It is just as spacious as A4. The boot is also nice and roomy, but you the rakish rear window may not let you hang you wardrobe like you could have done in A4.
What is it while Drive:
The Audi A5 shares its chassis with A4, but it is slightly lower than the A4 and a bit tweeky while driving. It had plenty of grip around the corners and don’t roll over while turning. The steering is very sharp. Even though Audi A5 Sportback weight around 100Kg more than the coupé but it is very light while driving and you will never notice the weight difference until and unless you are pushed into a timed laps race.
Now let’s come to engine, it has a nice selection of diesel and petrol engines. Audi A5 has four engines and tree transmission choices are included in the Sportback range with an option to choose from two turbo diesels and two petrol engines. Audi A5 is as tempting as a big power plant due to its powerful engines but it is best served with its smaller engines, particularly the 2.0 liter TDI diesel. If it is run at a decent six speed manual transmission then TDI will be able to come up a decent pace that is 62 mph in 8.7 sec.
Audi adds on to the comfort further by specifying Audi’s variable driver select system, which allows you to alter the A5’s steering, throttle, damping and gearbox settings.
Final Word:
The Audi A5 Sportback is certainly a good choice to choose from Coupé and the A4 as it is more practical than the former and more comfortable and spacious than the latter and not to forget it is at affordable price.
