Google instigated its social networking service on 28th of June 2011; currently this service is in testing stage. After seeing the popularity of Facebook, Google jumped into the field of social networking to earn its pie. Soon after the launch, it was functional with the invite only stage and next days users were permitted to invite their friends. People who are above 18 can join Google+ and expand their social network.

Vic Gundotra of Google said the following “Today, the connections between people increasingly happen online. Yet the subtlety and substance of real-world interactions are lost in the rigidness of our online tools. In this basic, human way, online sharing is awkward. Even broken and we aim to fix it.”

Key Features of Google+

Google introduced Google+ not just as social networking site, in fact it is more than a social networking site and in addition to Google profiles and Google Buzz it also include many other exciting features like Circles, Hangouts, Sparks and Huddles and much more.

One restriction or we can say limitation in this series is that it comes with 8GB memory and you can’t expand the memory as there is no memory expansion slot available. The battery life is also good which ensures that you can take it anywhere with you without the tension of this warning ‘Battery low’.

Features:

Now getting your favorite media files from any source is not a problem, just drag your favorite files from iTunes, Windows Media Player or Internet Explorer and drop them on to your player, then enjoy. This much ease in loading the files is the highly desirable feature of the MP3 players.

It comes with the exclusive Sony clear audio technologies like the Clear Stereo, Clear Bass Audio Technologies and Digital Sound Enhancement Engine. All of these collaboratively work to bring the exciting sound for you to enjoy.

A very unique and lovely feature of this MP3 player is the SensMe tone analysis feature, this is so intelligent that it automatically groups your music into channels based on beats-per-minutes. So it will make easy to listen to the audio according to your mood and always remained entertained as this device know which entertainment you want and which not.

There is a built in FM radio tuner that allows you to set the FM stations of your locality on this device and listen to them any time you want.

This player gives you up to 50 hours of music playback and 10 hours of video playback which is really amazing, you might not have seen such a battery life available on the MP3 player but now Sony has made it possible.

Specifications:

While considering about the size capacity should also be take care of because you are supposed to decide about the capacity by keeping in mind the needs of your family. An 18 inch dishwasher is quite enough for a family of 2-3 persons and if you have a bigger family then this, it would be recommended to go for higher capacity.

HDTV Buying Guide

“Think before you act”, you might have heard this saying from almost all the elder ones. According to my belief, this is one of the most practical sayings as it helps one in every walk of life. Whether you are going to say something or are about to do a specific act; prior thinking is necessary. Therefore I am here to guide those of you who are planning to buy an HDTV so that they know about the key factors that have to be kept in mind; and thus do not make a mistake. After all, an HD television will cost you a fortune.

There are few things to ascertain before buying an HDTV including choice of technologies, accurate size selection, specifications and features according to your concern etc.

LCD or Plasma:

Old debate, huh? Yes, it has become more like a cliché. But this is a fact that you need to determine whether you want a plasma TV or an LCD, because this is the first step in the way to buying an HDTV. I will not indulge into technicalities related to both kinds. In short, plasma renders more wonderful picture than LCD, however, it is less durable, requires more power, is more prone to burn-ins and is more expensive compared to LCD. Plasma TVs are available in bigger sizes; 37” to 65”.

As far as LCD is concerned, it is offered in smaller sizes i.e. 15”. Though LCD should be given preference for its cost effectiveness and durability, Plasma defeats it in the battle of contrast ratio, deep black, color accuracy, and vivid and clear picture.

Accurate Size:

Your fondness for 60” is not enough logic to buy it; consider your room size too. This is important to note that the size of your HDTV must be in harmony with the size of your room; else you will either be sitting one foot away from the TV or will be seated in the farthest corner of the room. Also, you will not want to go out shopping for a newer model after 12 months.

Specs:

Aspect ratio, contrast ratio, deep blacks and resolution are also important to consider. Go for the model that offers best defined black, as it is an evidence of clearer picture. The greyer the blacks are; the more below par the picture quality becomes. As far as resolution is concerned, bigger TVs will offer 1080p while cheaper and smaller screens are available in 720p.

Budget:

Perhaps the most important factor while buying anything is your budget. LCD is a better option if you have a low budget; whereas plasma is perfect where you have no problems of limited finance.

Video Connectivity:

Newer models have a lot of connectivity options which will prove useful in coming future. Apart from the conventional composite video, options include HDMI now. You must buy the TV with most HDMI connections so that you don’t have to plug out one device and insert the other. You might want to consider the latest connectivity option i.e. internet connectivity. 2010 is being awaited for the 3D option.

This was a short list of what you should consider and what to avoid while buying an HDTV. I hope that this proves helpful to all the readers and you benefit from it.

Are you going to buy a brand new flat screen High Definition Television? Yes? Congratulations! But, have you found out every important thing to know about HD TVs before buying one? Or better, have you even thought above bigger screens and more pixels? There is more to know about an HDTV than greater inches and more pixels before buying one. Do not worry, in this article we shall give you some fine tips which are bound to help you when you go out shopping for an HDTV.

Display Size:

You will find two options in flat screen HD TVs; LCD and Plasma. If you are going for a TV having less than 37” screen, you have no choice but an LCD. But if you plan for something bigger and greater than 37”, you can choose between Plasma and LCD; comparing their respective features and attributes.

Plasma:

Plasma is expensive; this is the biggest fact about it. It is a plane and flat panel display, used for huge screens mostly. These displays are brighter and more vivid than LCD displays due to difference of working and substances used in them.

There are two plates of glass used in Plasma’s working which hold countless minute cells inside. These cells are full of two gases; neon and xenon. Between the glass-plates on both sides of these tiny cells, there are placed long electrodes. A potential difference is caused by charging these electrodes. When a difference in voltage happens, ionization of neon and xenon occurs and creates plasma. These ions start moving towards the electrodes resulting in collisions, which give birth to photons.

The pixels of Plasma display consist of three sub pixel cells which are red, blue and green colored phosphors. Variation in the current which flows through these phosphors increases or decreases the concentration of these colors. This is the rationale behind rich color display of Plasma TV. Plasma range begins from 37” and extends to 65”, costing about $800 to $15000.

Plasma’s Drawbacks:

Plasma Displays are prone to burn-ins.

It consumes way more power than LCD.

It is pricier than LCD.

LCD:

Liquid crystal display consists of two glass-plates holding inside them an arrangement of liquid crystals. Two glass-plates hold thousands of pixels filled with liquid crystals, and there is a source of light at the back. There are two transparent electrodes and two polarizing filters also; between them is present a layer of molecules. Liquid crystal molecules are lined up in a certain direction before an electric charge is applied to them. When an electric charge is applied, variation results in construction of different levels of grey.

Same three colored sub pixels are present in LCD too. Colors are subtracted from white light and thus, color elements are displayed. LCD models vary in size, starting from 15” to 65”. It is not a very expensive choice, yet it is a nice one.

LCD’s Drawbacks:

It is beaten by Plasma when it comes to contrast ratio, color accuracy, and deeper blacks.

It can not produce pictures as large and bright as Plasma.

Sometimes, moving objects are smudged in LCD.

Single pixels of LCD can burn out, which we see as black spots.

Now when you have the plus and minus points of both technologies, you can decide according to your own choice that what you should bring in to your home.

Contrast Ratio:

It refers to the brightest and darkest light values that a display can generate at a time. The higher the contrast ratio is, the better the TV’s quality is. LCD has a low quality contrast ratio (starting at about 600:1) as compared to Plasma, which offers very high contrast ratio (starting at about 1000:1). Unfortunately, there is no authentic method to identify a TV’s contrast ratio. Plasma offers deeper blacks than LCD.

Aspect Ratio:

It is the relationship of screen’s width to screen’s height. Usual TV sets have an aspect ratio of 4:3, and the modern wide screen ones have an aspect ratio of 16:9. You should go for the wide screen TVs because HDTV is a wide screen system and also, DVDs look way better on wide screens.

Video Inputs:

It determines that what kind of and how many sources you can use with your TV. The most widely compatible is the Composite Video, though it has the lowest quality. It is present in every device that has video output sources. S-video offers better than Composite quality, and is present in all devices else than the standard VCRs. Component video is the minimum standard for connecting HD cable, satellite set top boxes, and progressive scan DVD and Blu-ray Disc players. VGA is primarily used for computer connections. DVI is one of the highest quality inputs that can connect to devices with HDMI outputs and computers. Today, the dominant digital connection interface for HDTVs is HDMI, which is a DVI plus input.

Resolution:

Apparent picture details are determined through resolution and contrast ratio. Plasma and LCD have fixed pixel display. Basically, there are five types of resolutions used these days; 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. 480i is used for analog standard TV; 480p for DVDs; 720p and 1080i formats are used by satellite, cable, and over-the-air-broadcast HD content providers, plus some advanced DVD players; and 1080p is used for Blu-ray players. List down your priorities, and choose one. But we would advise you to invest in a model that supports 1080p, as your Flat Screen HD TV is a long term investment.

Now when you have major points clear in your mind, we are going to provide you with some tips, which will surely help you in long turn.

Get a TV set with at least some HDMI inputs; the next era is of multi-connectivity. Look into for those which have more side and front ports and rear.

Compare different TV displays using various input sources, mark the difference, and make your decision.

Take with you a DVD with dim-lit scenes, and check the displays with the DVD. Look into the displays that show deeper black.

Very important: try to check the remote control before buying a TV. A non friendly complex remote can destroy your state of sheer joy.

Check the video settings before buying a TV.

Now that you are well equipped with pre-shopping knowledge; you must be confident to head towards the shopping area of your city, inspect all those trendy HDTVs like an expert, and buy the one that suits you best.

Amazon Kindle is a software and hardware platform for the purpose of reading e-books, developed by Amazon.com subsidiary Lab126. It was first launched in the US in November, 2007. Two hardware devices known as “Kindle” and “Kindle 2” support this platform, as does an iPhone Application “Kindle for iPhone.”

Amazon announced the Kindle 2 on February 9, 2009, which came into the stores to be purchased on 23rd of the same month. It was highly appreciated by the e-readers, though with a high price of $359. It not only possesses better battery life, but also, it features 20% faster page refreshing than the Original Kindle. A conspicuously nice characteristic of the Kindle 2 is the unique text-to-speech option.

A Kindle 2 user can either download the content from Amazon in certified AZW format, or load unprotected e-books.

Recently, Amazon released the Kindle Application for iPhone. Since then, a burning debate has begun regarding what should be the choice; a Kindle 2, or Kindle for iPhone. Opinions vary with different groups of people. There are many factors than can affect one’s decision to get any of the both.

The price factor: Kindle 2 is available in stores for $359. This is a high price, no doubt, but a devoted e-reader can give anything to get a better e-book reader.

On the contrary, Kindle for iPhone is a free to download application. An iPhone holder does not have to get Kindle 2, the only thing he needs to do is download the free application, and enjoy e-book reading. Thus, the Application wins this round.

Display size: Kindle 2 has a 6 inches, larger display, whereas Kindle for iPhone has the typical iPhone display size for book reading.

Younger generation, having no severe eyesight ailments, loves to have an iPhone which gives them the best e-book reading experience. On the other hand, Kindle’s 6 inch screen has made the older ones fond of it, as it caters to their need of clearer and bigger surface to read from.

Availability of content: Kindle 2 supports books, periodicals and a number of newspapers for decent price, whereas the iPhone application does not support but e-books. Thus those, who want to read their magazines and daily papers on their palm devices, face disappointment here.

Downloading: Kindle 2 users can easily download the content from Amazon.com through their device, but the Kindle Application for iPhone user has no means to get directly to the store. They have to access Amazon.com through a web browser from their iPhone, and buy the content accordingly; another drawback of Kindle Application for iPhone.

Color: The application gives typical colors of the iPhone while reading an e-book, making it way colorful. Kindle 2 promises real book reading experience to its readers, as it possesses 16 different shades of Grey.

But when it comes to Comic books reading, Kindle 2 helplessly fails; with no colors and no zooming. Though, iPhone App also does not support zoom feature, it shows comics in full bright colors.

Both the gadget and the application support book marking, increasing the font size, and accessing content page. Decision of choosing between the two depends solely upon preferences one has.

Here is a quick guide and myths for the HD camcorders. With a growing competition in the market, the price of the HD camcorder has significantly dropped. Even though prices look attractive, it is not very easy to choose the best HD camcorder that fulfills all your purposes. There are three different types of resolutions available in HD’s camcorder. Well, few options have applied only in the professional version. However, with the improved qualities of playback devices and displays, the expectations have rise to a great extent.

First of all let’s learn about the following four myths about the HD camcorders:

Before you buy always check your special likeness against the reality. It may happen that the SD TV repeatedly acts as great level with regards to the video quality. It may be possible to make the bad footage look fine and better footage look bad. Here are the myths that you should keep in mind before you buy one.

Myth No. 1: The video quality of HD camcorder is higher than SD.

This is not true because resolution is not the only deciding factor of the video quality. As compared to digital cameras, it also takes lot of pixels to produce really good picture. However, we should also keep in mind about the lens, the image processing as well as the compression algorithms, and the dynamic range of the sensor(s). These are very important factors for the quality of the video output.

Myth No. 2: HD camcorder enhances the HDTV viewing than SD model.

Well there is a difference between the resolution component of the HD and its aspect ratio. Most camcorders now days are able to record the wide-screen video if you would like to fill up the 16:9 flat panels.

Myth No. 3: If the cost of both HD and SD models are same, then HD model is more preferred as it is more future-proof than the other.

Being the leading edge does not always mean the elimination of the other, as it can be seen in the battle of Blu-ray and HD-DVD.

Myth No.4: If it is not HD, it is not leading edge.

There are lots of technological advancements and changes that are taking place in the field of the camcorder category without restricting yourself to HD.

What you must know?

In many ways, the shopping for an HD camcorder circulates similar to a SD model such as to sort out various specifications of the lenses, the types of media, and the body designs. There are few issues that are specific to the HD camcorders which you should always keep in mind.

CCD aspect ratio and resolution

There are few Camcorder manufacturers who give stress that they are using a 16:9 aspect ratio sensor. But the calculation of sensor only matters if and only if its resolution is also low. Lets say there is a frame of 1080i video that has dimensions of 1,920×1,080 pixels; as it is interlaced, the vertical dimension must be at least 540 pixels. Therefore, you do require a sensor which is at least 1.04 megapixels that is 1,920*540. However, the 1.04-megapixel sensor that has an aspect ratio of 4:3 may have very few horizontal pixels and lots of vertical pixels to yield near about the same total.

In the nutshell, if the resolution of sensor divided by 1,920 comes near 540 for 1080i or 720 in case of 720p, one should not have to worry about the aspect ratio.

HDMI output

The easiest method to share your HD video is obviously by plugging the camcorder to your HDTV and by hitting the Play button. However, if you are using an analog connection or an even FireWire, your video output will be down converted to SD.

The technology of LCD has been in the market from few decades; however, it is only recently that there is home entertainment introduced through a flat panel LCD TV sets.

Comparing LCD with the Plasma in the field of high definition, we can say that LCD is much wider as well as more popular segment in the market than that of a Plasma TV. One of the main reasons is that you can find even the 26-inch and 32-inch screen size TVs in the LCD segment while you can not find Plasma in this range.

There are wide ranges of models of LCD TV in the market today with various features. Competitions between various brands are really good for the consumers, because more the competition, lesser the prices, and bigger the ranges.

Here are few buying guides for a LCD high-definition TV:

Until recently most of the big flat screen TV could only be seen in Plasma, but now there are many 52-inches LCD TV in the market.

As LCD technologies are more established now, we find it cheaper than most of the same size plasma television. The technology of LCD is more favorable in supporting 1080p or the full high-definition images. The colour depth and the brightness of a LCD are more vibrant than that of a Plasma TV.

1080p Resolution

All televisions which are marked as ‘HD Ready’ are capable to receive and display a high definition signal. It doesn’t matter whether the high definition signal are coming from different piece of equipments such as a Blu-ray player, or a DVD player, or from any digital broadcaster. The main thing is the resolution. The resolution must be at least 720p, technically which means 720 vertical lines and 1,280 horizontal lines of resolution by a method known as ‘progressive scan’.

The sets which are capable of receiving or transmitting 720p can also take any other broadcast which may be delivering 1,080 horizontal and 1,920 vertical lines of resolution. However, it delivers through a low quality ‘interlaced’ method, which is also known as 1080i.

The similarity to 1080p with 1080i is that both deliver the same 1920×1080 signal resolution, however the methods are different. 1080p uses progressive scan method. This factor makes 1080p high up in the quality queue and is also labeled as ‘Full High Definition’.

Naming technologies

Competitions between the LCD manufacturers are so high that each company wants to make big attractive names to some technologies they used in the picture processing or others. Then they start marketing their product based on those exciting names of the technology in order to attract the customers.

It is always recommended to read reviews of the product before buying, because technology names may sounds better, but you don’t know the reality.

Good connections

Your TV will not be completed without the accessories that you may have to buy like Blu-ray player, speakers, or some Sky box or cable TV connection. Let’s suppose your cable TV provider is offering few high definition channels. However, the quality of the signal of those channels is wholly depending upon the quality of the cable you are using in between your cable box and your television.

For High definition TV and channels, a good quality of HDMI cable will really make a vast difference to your TV viewing experience. After HDMI, next is the component video, RGB Scart, and S-video. For connecting your older devices to the high definition TV, you can use Scart and composite video.

At first, these are the few things that you need to know about the particular TV sets.

Display size

1080p output

Contrast ratio

Native resolution

HDMI ports

Freeview tuner

Frequency

1080p connectivity is highly in demand as of now and a very new area is developing for a high end image processing, i.e. 24Hz. Originally the films are shot at 24 frames per second, also the high-definition Blu-ray players offers the output images at 24Hz frequencies. So the 24Hz-compliant TV will allow the best-quality of pictures preserved through out the all processes.

Dead pixels

One of the major things that you need to check is ‘dead pixels’. LCD panel consists of a huge number of very small shutters. There can be possibility of such dead pixels in your brand new television. As a consumer you must check for any permanently light or permanent dark area, which completely depends on whether the shutter is closed or in open state. If you found 2 dead pixels in million, your set is faulty and legally you can demand for a replacement.
