Canon Vixia HV30 has a 200x digital zoom and CMOS optical sensor of size 1/2.7 inches. It has SuperRange Optical image stabilizer; and Wipe Fader digital scene transition. Shutter has minimum speed of 1/2 and maximum of 1/2000 seconds.
It promises an excellent quality photography experience with Digital photo mode, widescreen video captures and built in camera flash.
Shooting Programs include Snow, Beach, Sunset, Fireworks, Spotlight, Night mode and Sports mode Portrait mode. White Balance Presets contain Shade, Cloudy, Daylight, Tungsten, Light, Fluorescent light (cool white) and Fluorescent light (warm white). With infrared and remote control support, HV30 has 2.96 mp sensor resolution; 2.07 mp Effective video resolution; and 2.76 mp Effective still resolution. Still photos are stored in JPEG formats 1920 x 1080, 248 x 1536, 1440 x 1080, 848 x 480 and 640 x 480.
Lens system used in this camcorder is Zoom lens; with a minimum 6.1 mm and maximum 61 mm focal length, F/1.8-3.0 Lens Aperture, 10x optical zoom, TTL contrast detection auto focus, and 43 mm filter size. Focus can either be adjusted manually or automatically. The lens has minimum focus range of 0.4 inches.
HV30 supports DV input, too. It functions as a still camera also; and one can shoot own photos with the help of self timer, and can also adjust the capture delay from 2 to 10 seconds. Files can be searched by dates.
It has a TFT active matrix Rotating color display of 2.7 inches, and a resolution of 123000 pixels. There is a built in microphone as well. Supplementary headphone or microphone can also be connected. The slots present in this camera are for USB, mini SD, IEEE 1394 (FireWire / i.Link), Composite video / audio (input / output), Component video, HDMI and DC power input. A USB cable is included in the pack. The camcorder is certified for Windows Vista.
Battery is Canon BP-2L13 Li-ion (which is rechargeable), and is included. A Canon BP-2L24 H Li-ion battery can also be used with this device.
