Apple has been known in the market as an aggressive marketer. It rarely approved of any upcoming competitor, and in this regard its rejection of Podcaster App had been much talked about. The Podcaster, a favorite amongst users had been out rightly rejected by Apple reviewers. Reason being, that it duplicated functionality provided by Apple’s software.

Now as Apple has approved the said violation of ‘duplication of functionality’ policy, it has been appreciated by many. Previously the Podcaster had been struck down by Cupertino for being the cause of munching on the Apple’s mobile download capabilities.

The credit for this change is in share, the developers at Podcaster have also made some amendments. It has been approved by them that the App will be available under the name “RSS Player”. They have also removed some of the original functions of the App, as been mutually consented.

The Podcaster directory has also been removed, which offended Apple a bit. You might not be able to get that much in the absence of the directory in the RSS but you will be allowed to subscribe to any cast feed. The RSS is coming without the limited 10-MB download when you are using 3G. This has been a problem with Apple applications previously.

Apple has recently released the upgraded 2.2 iPhone firm ware. This provided the Apple phone with podcast download support. Other than this upgraded version, only Podcaster was there to provide the same facility.

It is thought that if Apple keeps up the same behavior, it will be a bigger market giant than it is today.
