Apple’s board of directors read a statement,

“We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.”

To honor him, Apple has turned the homepage of Apple’s website to a full-page image of Jobs with the text,

“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”

Jobs contributions to Apple had been countless.  In 1976, he co-founded Apple Computer with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak and gave the world the first personal computer, the Apple II. Wozniak was in shock and told ABC News,
“I’m shocked and disturbed.”

Steve Jobs, the innovator of the technological world of computing, music recording and communication has been an inspiration for the whole world. Apple was struggling before Jobs joined the company as CEO in 1997.

By 2001, Jobs gave his first innovative gift to the commercial music industry, the iPod — a revolutionary pocket-sized computer hard drive with stylishly simple controls and a set of white earbuds to listen music for hours.

iTunes online music store was another innovation by Jobs, which  changed the trend of buying music. A digital file would give you music and there was no need to buy a CD and hear music. Major recording labels were convinced to sell songs for 99 cents each.

In 2007, Jobs gave a whole new concept to the cellphone industry by transforming the simple cellphone into smartphone i-e Apple’s iPhone. iPhone featured touchscreen, musicplayer, and was a handheld computer, messaging device and  digital wallet. Later Motorola, BlackBerry and Nokia followed Apple’s steps.

Finally in 2010, Apple’s new iPad, a slim tablet computer with a touch screen and almost no physical keys made the Apple fans to fall in love with the computers again.

Jobs health failed him in 2004, and he was forced to get a liver transplant in 2009.On Aug. 24, 2011 Jobs resigned as Apple’s chief executive

In his letter of resignation, he wrote,

“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know.”Unfortunately, that day has come.”

Steve Jobs death is an unbelievable loss not only to Apple but also to the whole world.
