AOL has confirmed in a press release that MediaGlow will soon be deployed throughout AOL network that is consisted on more than 75 websites, as the process of the deployment has been started.
It was in 2008 when AOL purchased Socialthing and started it as a Freindfeed competitor. The private beta of it wasn’t ever released, but it succeeded to find its way into AOL acquired Bebo. Now to compete with Google Friend Connect and Facebook Connect, AOL is considering combining the site with AIM.
Previously, it provides a single sign-in to participate for the websites, but now the site is accepting password and username from AOL and AIM and soon it will also include Gmail, Facebook, Bebo, Yahoo and OpenID with OAuth.
Aside from a single sign-in, a toolbar at the bottom of the site to produce private AIM and group chat to the site has also been created.
Yesterday, FaceBook has announced to open up its website core for the third party developers to allow them developing applications and make the most of the available content on the site. Now AOL is looking to make an entry in this battlefield depending on its Socialthing and AIM. It’s considering deploying Socialthing on its own network as well as on the sites of the other partners.
