With its new processors named as Phenom II, AMD has just launched an attack on Intel. The prices of these new chips are quite lower than Intel’s Core 2 line and all of them can be fitted into the current AM2+ and AM3 sockets. They also offer support to DDR2 as well as DDR3 memory.
The new Phenom II chips show AMD’s fondness for developing triple core processors. Most of customers want to have quad core processors in their new computers and triple core market effectiveness has long been under discussion, but the purpose behind their development is to offer more differentiation in the different ranges of processors.
According to AMD, when it comes to price, their triple core chips can compete with dual core and performance-wise you would find it a better option with that price. These five new processors have two X3 variants that run at 2.6 GHz and 2.8Gz.
The company also told that its X3 720 2.8GHz Black Edition offers a 20% Cinebench 3D offering performance that is quite improved from the E8400 Core and it is also $20 lesser in price.
The X4 (four-core) has been clocked at 2.5GHz as well as 2.6 GHz, while the X4 810 is $5 higher in price than the Core 2 Quad. The company has also claimed for a lot better benchmark results in everyday routine.
